About the Wichita Pachyderm Club

We believe that the majority of corrupting influences in American politics could be eliminated, making the government more responsive, through a fundamental improvement: increasing citizen engagement in the political process. The adage, “We get the government we deserve, not the one we wish for,” serves as a guiding principle for a free society. We propose a significant movement of political clubs as the most effective way to foster broad political participation, grounded in Republican principles and encouraging good citizens to take active roles in governance.

We are a Republican group modeled after civic clubs, focusing on programs that promote government and politics. Membership in Pachyderm clubs is open to all who align with Republican principles. Our meetings are welcoming to the public and encourage non-member attendance, fostering citizen engagement in political participation. It's important to note that Pachyderm clubs, as an organization, do not endorse specific issues or candidates during contested primary elections. The National Federation of the Grand Order of Pachyderm Clubs is an official allied group of the Republican National Committee, positioning our member clubs as enhancements to the Republican party rather than competitors. The Pachyderm Club movement serves as a practical avenue for achieving broad citizen engagement in politics. While controlled locally, Pachyderm clubs operate within a standard framework to ensure consistency. We meet regularly—weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly—providing continuous support for Republican volunteers and activists.

Individual ability, dignity, freedom, and responsibility are fundamental to good government and reflect core Republican principles. The free enterprise system, along with encouragement of citizen engagement and individual initiative, is essential for a robust economy. Government exists to protect the freedom of each citizen, not to restrict it. It should only intervene in areas that individuals cannot effectively manage on their own. Society, along with government, should assist those who are unable to provide for themselves and help them become self-supporting citizens with pride in their independence. Equal rights, equal justice, and equal opportunity belong to all, irrespective of race, creed, color, national origin, or gender. The preservation of our nation and the security of our citizens depend upon every individual's respect for the Constitution, the laws, and the courts. Furthermore, government must maintain sound money and a reasonable economy; the rights to life and liberty lose significance if citizens are burdened by excessive taxation, inflation, and wasteful government practices. Political participation and strong governance are essential for fostering world peace and friendship through strength.
